October 1-5, 2012

12-2 English:
Test on units I and II, on Monday, O of Canterbury Tales.ctober 1st.  Tuesday, we shall be beginning the Age of Chaucer.  Lecture and notes for unit III.  We shall then begin reading the Prologue of Canterbury Tales.  Students will work in pairs to read a Canterbury Tale, and present it to the class.

September 24-28, 2012

10 English: Students should be reading their personal novel, and be finished it by Thanksgiving.  Each student has grammar notes to be reviewing each evening.  There will be a grammar test next week.  In class we are writing and reading eaasys.

12 English: This week we are reading literature from the Anglo-Norman Period.  Students must write a paraphrase of Book 4 of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. Students should be completing their reading of their personally selected Canadian novel.

11 Culinary:  Students have note to study each night.  This week we are continuing with culinary as a career.  Thursday and Friday we are in the culinary lab.  This week we are making chicken Alfredo Fettuccini.  For desser we are making chocolate and lemon tarts.

7 Writing: in class we are workoing on writing opening paragraphs of essays.

September 10-14, 2012

Welcome to Mr. Griffin's news blog.  This blog will let students and parents know what we are doing each week in classes.

12 English:
We have introduced the course outline.  Students must study the literary periods and their dates.  The first unit is the Anglo-Saxon unit.  Students will have all of the study notes for the first uunit by Tuesday, September 11.  This is all new material, so study is essential.  We shall be reading "Caedmon's Hymn" and "Dream of the Rood."  As well, we shall begin reading Beowulf.
