September 18-22
Grade 9 Social Studies
We are taking notes and discussing the regions of Canada this week.  AS well, students are to have a map of the world in on Thursday.  Students have had this information for several weeks.  There will be a test next week on all of the information we have had so far in Social Studies.

Grade 12 English
There was a re-test on unit 1 on Monday.  This week were are studying the Anglo-Norman unit.

September 12-16
Grade 9 Social Studies
This week we have finished the world unit, looking at plate tectonics, and how earthquakes and volcanoes are formed.  Students were goven some term they need to know.  Also, we have learned the provinces, territories and capitals of Canada.  A world map assignment will be given by Wednesday that will be due next Friday.

Grade 12 English.  This week we have read part 1 of Beowulf, and we looked at some lyrics of early English.

September 6-8th, 2011

Grade 9 Social Studies:
This week the class is being introduced to the grade 9 Social Studies curriculum.  The first unit introduces social studies terms students need to know.  Students will soon be given notes on the continents, oceans, and how the world is constructed.  Also, students will need to know where Canada is in relation to other countries.  Soon, a map project will be given on a map of the world.  Students will need a half sheet of bristol board for this project.  (There will be four map projects throughout the course).

Grade 12 English
This week, students are being introduced to the Literary Periods of English Literature.  As well, students will look at early English texts.

Grade 11 Culinary
Students need $30.00 for the lab fee.  This will purchase their aprons, shirts, and cook's hats.  This week we are loooking at an introduction to the culinary profession.

ELPA
We are looking at how students can read and write better, so they can be successful on their Provincial Assessments.
