January 28-30
9/10 English:
This term we are studying the novel Amthem, by Ayn Rand. First assignment, due Monday, students are to develop a Bill of Rights and Freedoms. The Bill should have at least five areas: Ideas and Religion; Lifestyle and treatment of others; Work and Employment; Travel and Movement; Healthcare and Education. This assignment should be in point form, not essay. This assignment is due Monday, February 2.
This class will also be studying vocabulary, in particular, root words, prefixes and suffixes.
This term will also be devoted to accomplishing the the Speaking and listening skills.

Finishing the Victorian Period, and touching the Twentieth Century. Review for exam. Following are the essay topics to prepare for the exam:
Essay topics for the January exam

From each grouping, you will need to write one essay:

A. Write an essay on ONE of the following two topics:1. The English class system changed over the literary periods, and that change affected the literature of the periods.2. Discuss the development of the translation of the Bible and how it affected Englsih Literature.

B. Write an essay on ONE of the following two topics:1. Compare and contrast any two literary periods in English Literature.2. Compare and contrast any two writers we have studend this year.

C. Write an essay on ONE of the following two topics:1. Discuss the similarities and differences of five Romantic poets: Wordsworth, Coleridge, Shelley, Keats, and Byron.2. Discuss the development of the literary genres in English Literature. Tell what literary period each type of writing was introduced, and if possible, for whom the writing was intended.
